Converting Knowledge into Action

 

Members of the Zone 3, Mangrove Association of Salay, Misamis Oriental, Philippines convert their newly acquired knowledge (on setting up a mangrove nursery) into tangible action by building their own mangrove nursery.

Last August 2022, this group underwent a knowledge transfer session facilitated by Ramon Magsaysay Awardee and Mangrove Expert, Roberto "Ka Dodoy" Ballon. They learned specifics on how to propagate certain species of mangrove.

Fast forward to March 4, 2023, they finished the building of their own mangrove nursery. With this, they seek to house at least 2,000 seedlings of various species of mangroves which they can either sell or plant to increase mangrove extent in their area.
