Seed and knowledge exchange at the heart of the Peruvian Amazonia

Published on January 17, 2024

Earlier this year, GLFx Amazonía Peruana (Camino Verde) actively participated in the 19th edition of the "Feria de Intercambio de Semillas y Saberes" organized by the local Association for Ecological Agriculture, in collaboration with Ecodely, ITA Inkaterra, Cáritas, and other local organizations.

This annual fair is dedicated to fostering the exchange of seeds of native species, alongside sharing knowledge and experiences among farmers and various producers in the Madre de Dios region. It serves as a platform for creating a horizontal knowledge-sharing space, bringing together farmers, institutions, and the general public to engage in learning about the remarkable diversity of seeds, plants, and natural medicine found in our forests.
The event also offers a valuable opportunity for local producers to showcase their products derived from local ingredients and traditional knowledge. Camino Verde actively participated by presenting a selection of products derived from our agroforestry systems. Most significantly, we showcased seedlings from our native species nurseries in the Madre de Dios region and seeds harvested from our protected and reforested areas.

These events not only highlight the richness of our region's biodiversity but also emphasize the importance of sustainable practices and the preservation of native species.
