RAENS Partners Co-Design Framework to Strengthen Agroecology Knowledge Sharing in Southern Africa.
Agroecology thrives on local wisdom, farmer innovation, and research yet this vital knowledge often remains trapped in institutional silos.
To bridge this gap, partners of the Regional Agroecology Network for Southern Africa (RAENS) came together to co-create a community-centered Information, Communication and Knowledge Management (ICKM) Framework. Developed during a three-day regional workshop convened by the Centre for Coordination of Agricultural Research and Development for Southern Africa (CCARDESA) from 15–17 September 2026 in Johannesburg, South Africa, the framework establishes a coordinated, inclusive approach to capturing and sharing knowledge across the region.
By placing farmers, local practitioners, and community knowledge at the heart of this strategy, RAENS is ensuring that evidence and traditional practices are not isolated within projects. Instead, this shared foundation enables vital agroecological knowledge to flow seamlessly from local fields to regional learning spaces and policy dialogues empowering communities and driving sustainable food system transformation across Southern Africa.
